Original Medicare covers very little when it comes to dental, vision, and hearing. Here's what you need to know — and how we can help fill the gaps.
Original Medicare only covers dental, vision, and hearing when it's related to a medical necessity. Routine care — the kind most people need every year — is largely uncovered without a separate plan.
Medicare only covers dental care required to protect your health before another covered procedure. It does not cover routine checkups, cleanings, fillings, dentures, or most extractions. Medicare Supplements also exclude dental. Some Medicare Advantage plans include dental benefits, but coverage varies widely.
Original Medicare doesn't cover routine eye exams, glasses, or contacts. It only pays for corrective lenses once after cataract surgery, and covers glaucoma screenings for high-risk individuals. For regular exams and quality eyewear, a standalone or bundled vision plan is essential.
Original Medicare does not cover hearing aids — one of the most common needs for seniors. Part B covers some diagnostic hearing tests only when ordered by your doctor. For hearing aid coverage and routine exams, a separate hearing plan is required.
What we've found works best for the majority of our clients is enrolling in a standalone plan that combines dental, vision, and hearing benefits into one affordable monthly premium.
These plans typically offer:
The monthly premium is low and provides far more coverage than you'd receive through Original Medicare alone. We'll compare available plans in your area and find the one that fits your needs and budget.
We'll find affordable dental, vision, and hearing coverage — at no cost to you.
